A S'moresUp alternative with photo proof at no cost
In short
Zupzi is a free family chore app for iPhone and iPad that includes photo proof and one-tap parent approval at no cost, with nothing to buy inside the app. S'moresUp lists both as paid features once its trial ends. S'moresUp is the stronger pick if you need Android, rotating chores or more than two children.

What's the difference between Zupzi and S'moresUp?
Both apps turn chores into something a child can check off and a parent can reward. The biggest difference is what you get without paying. S'moresUp's free version keeps core chores, a calendar and rewards, while its pricing page lists chore approvals and photo proof as paid features after a trial. In Zupzi, photo proof and approval are part of the free app, and there is nothing to buy.
| Zupzi | S'moresUp | |
|---|---|---|
| Photo proof | Included at no cost | Paid feature after the trial |
| Parent approval | Included, one tap per mission | Paid feature after the trial |
| Things to buy in the app | None: no in-app purchases | In-app purchases, per its App Store listing |
| Devices | iPhone and iPad | iPhone, iPad and Android |
| Family size | Up to two children | Unlimited family members and devices in the free version |
| Chore types | Missions that repeat daily, weekly or once | Also rotate, compete and collaborate chores, as paid features |

Where is S'moresUp stronger?
S'moresUp has been around much longer, and some families need what it offers. Pick it over Zupzi if any of these matter to you:
- Android. S'moresUp has an Android app. Zupzi is only on iPhone and iPad.
- Bigger families. Its free version allows unlimited family members and devices. Zupzi allows up to two children per family.
- More chore modes. As paid features, chores can rotate between children, or children can compete or collaborate on them. Zupzi missions repeat daily, weekly or once, for the children you pick.
- Family organizing beyond chores. S'moresUp includes a shared calendar and an allowance tool. Zupzi does not handle money at all.
- Integrations. Its site describes links with Google Classroom and smart home appliances from GE and Bosch.
Where is Zupzi different?
- Photo proof and approval at no cost. When a mission needs a photo, your child takes it with the camera (not the photo library) and it lands on your phone for a quick yes or no. See Approve with one tap.
- You decide how long photos stay. Mission photos are kept for one month by default, or one week, three months or a year, set in the Safety Center. See Safety and privacy.
- Missions a child can follow before she reads. Each of the 26 ready-made missions has its own picture, two or three steps and a Read it to me button. See read-aloud missions.
- Zuzi, the voice companion inside Zupzi. She stays off until you allow her, the family shares 10 minutes a month, and the full transcript is e-mailed to you after every talk. See Zuzi.
- Nothing to buy. There are no in-app purchases. The app has no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking software, and a child can only ever talk to Zuzi.

How do I switch from S'moresUp to Zupzi?
Zupzi starts fresh, so write down your chores and what each one is worth before you begin. Then follow these short videos:
- Get Zupzi on your phone and create your parent account with Apple, Google or e-mail.
- Add your child: her name and a 4-digit PIN, so a sibling can't play as her.
- Pick missions, or write your own, each worth 1 to 1,000 Stars.
- Create rewards that match the ones your family already uses.
- Set up your kid's tablet with a 6-digit code that expires after 10 minutes.
